Undergraduate Research Goals

Undergraduate researchers are students at the University pursuing baccalaureate degrees who seek out opportunities to gain experience in research methodologies, data collection, and writing and presenting aspects of research.

The goals for undergraduate research at Pitt are:

  • Provide undergraduate students with quality, immersive experiences in research with guidance from a mentor or research supervisor in their field
  • Communicate guidelines and expectations for research as set forward by the department, the location of research, and the governing body of the discipline
  • To craft meaningful and impactful experiences for undergraduate students who may not otherwise have access to research opportunities
  • To support the professional development and growth of our students through the act of doing research and presenting their data and findings
