The Provost Academy is a week-long, hands-on experience meant to set students up for success in their first year through a combination of academic projects and social activities.
You will spend time exploring Pitt’s campus and the city of Pittsburgh as you immerse yourself in the exciting new landscape you now call home!
The Provost Academy is designed to support students who are either first-generation, limited-income, or members of a group underrepresented in higher education.
Taking part in the Provost Academy boosts your first year at Pitt with a transformational experience like no other. You'll reap many benefits as you:
- Move in early and get to know your way around campus and the city of Pittsburgh. Provost Academy events will also provide opportunities to explore and immerse yourself in the exciting new landscape you now call home.
- Get hands-on experiences with the academic learning environment at Pitt before you begin your course of study.
- Build connections and establish community with your fellow participants before the academic year event starts. You might even be making lifelong friendships!
- Spend time collaborating with Pitt faculty members and upper-level Pitt students and get to know leadership on campus.
- Develop relationships and success skills alongside professors to help you get ahead academically
- Understand the technology and systems used at Pitt.
- Learn how to access opportunities at Pitt to make the most of your education and where to go for resources and support on campus when you need them.
